Do you have a chicken in your kitchen?

October 23, 2008

Molly, of a Foothill Home Companion, wrote a post today on the importance of having a chicken in your kitchen.  While I’d suggest that everyone acquire a live chicken for their yard first, kitchen chickens are also a good idea.  Aside from a few dishes with chickens on them (some of you probably ate off of them at the wedding), our only other kitchen chicken appears to be the roosters on my recipe tin.  Given my love for the birds, you’d think I’d have more of them.

i have had an actual chicken in my kitchen, brought in by my lovely dog. when he was very little, he would chase my landlord’s chickens around the yard with his mouth open. he wasn’t fast enough to catch them. as he grew, he started getting closer — and more sly. he actually managed to coax one out of the coop, grabbed it in his mouth, did a few victory laps and then proceeded to deposit it on the kitchen floor. the chicken flapped a lot and hid under the counter. things did not end well…
(this is paul’s friend amy, by the way. i have a wordpress blog too, at barefootrooster,wordpress.com — not sure if i mentioned before!)
