We did a bit of work in the yard today in an attempt to make it more presentable for the party next weekend.  It’s far from perfect but it has gone through tremendous changes since we bought our house last year.  I think mostly for the better.

The fence we put in to keep hazel out of the garden makes our yard look a lot smaller, but it does allow us to actually grow things without her destroying them.  I’ve come to terms with that trade-off.

The eventual goal is to put in grass in the dirt area between the patio and the fence so the dog/future kids (or whatever) have something to play in.  The whole yard is a challenge to grow stuff in due to the shade and all the shit the pretty oak drops, along with the wrath of Hazel, but for the most part things are working out.

Hi! Your backyard looks great. My boyfriend and I want to start a nice garden in our yard but have a dog and are worried about him getting into it…was creating the fenced in area difficult?
