Crop Swap

July 14, 2010

Oak Park Crop Swap started this week, and will continue for the rest of the summer on Monday nights in McClatchy Park (5th Ave & 33rd Street).  While most of them are in the park, the meeting this week was held at the Brickhouse, where people sipped on homemade kombucha and lemonade while watching the film HomeGrown.

We swapped some of our squash and lemons for a different variety of squash (everyone has some) and tomatoes.

A full calendar of Crop Swap events can be found here.

It looks like you meant to post a picture of the Oak Park Crop Swap meeting, but accidentally posted a picture of the Oak Park White Folks Association instead.

Psshhh. There are some non-white people there (although I can’t see them in the picture either).

It is an issue though. The produce swapped at Crop Swap has to be organic so I think one of the issues is convincing people who normally use a lot of MiracleGro to try gardening without it.
