Hardly Strictly Bluegrass
So you may have gathered that we went to Hardly Strictly Bluegrass last weekend. As always, it was crowded, but you can’t really argue with seeing great musicians perform for free. I also ran into a few friends who I hadn’t seen in years, so that added to the experience.
I highly recommending picking a stage early in the day, setting up camp somewhere where you can see and hear the music, and then sticking with that stage. You might not see as many bands that way, but the quality goes way up.
Also, bring a picnic and beer/wine. They don’t serve alcohol in the park and the food is music-festival expensive.
Some of our favorites of the weekend were Randy Newman and the Carolina Chocolate Drops.
If you haven’t been, check it out next year! It’s always the first weekend in October. That’s important to know because you have to book a hotel room months in advance unless you have somewhere to stay (thanks to my awesome apartment-lending friends!).
