Let there be light

October 20, 2010

Once upon a time, my kitchen looked like a taqueria.

Then P tore a hole in the wall, and with the help of our contractor friend eventually made an archway connecting the kitchen and living room.  In the process the ceiling fell down.  We’d always hated the lighting fixtures in the kitchen, so they never made it back up.  We basically had a bulb hanging from our ceiling for months (see the gold thing on the right in the picture below…it was hanging like that even after the ceiling went back up).

Every few weeks we’d look online at lights and get nowhere.  Apparently light fixtures are really expensive.  It never really bothered me, but P was going insane so last weekend we went to Ikea and brought home (cheap) light fixtures.

The one in the kitchen is currently insanely bright due to the bulbs in it and the one above the dining room table needs the brighter bulb (we didn’t have enough of the yellow bulbs to put them in the other light).  But it’s a big improvement from bulbs dangling from the ceiling.
