Congrats CLUCK!

In April 2009 P convinced (forced?) me to help him put on a press conference to help legalize backyard chickens in Sacramento.  Specifically I was concerned about my own backyard hens, but a whole bunch of other people got caught up in the momentum and CLUCK, or the Campaign for Legalizing Urban Chicken Keeping, was born.

While I did most of my CLUCKing from behind the scenes, P was deeply involved in organizing meetings, meeting with folks from the city, attending hearings, and doing all sorts of things that lead to him being known as “Chicken Paul” around Sacramento.  I’m not kidding–I’m married to Chicken Paul.

Well tonight the issue was finally taken up by the full council and it passed!  Unanimously!  We’re still not certain how that happened since we sadly couldn’t be at the hearing tonight (nursing school finals are a bitch), but we couldn’t be happier and I am so, so proud of P. and everyone else for their work on this.

Congratulations! I remember seeing P talking on the news a while back about this, and am glad to see it finally passed. Seriously, congrats to everyone who worked hard to get this! PS – Good luck with finals!
