My milkshake

I’ve never been a big smoothie person, but lately they’ve really grown on me.  I’ve probably made more blender beverages in the last two weeks than I’ve made in the last five years or so combined.

Paul and I couldn’t decide between a chocolate and a fruity version for these, so I made one of each.  The fruity version has: acai juice, frozen blueberries, vanilla yogurt, and half a banana.  The chocolate version has: the other half of the banana, vanilla yogurt, a splash of milk, a few dates, a few tablespoons of maca powder, and a tablespoon of bittersweet chocolate powder.

Ooooo, dates in smoothies…must experiment this weekend.

My favorite “smoothie” is 1 avocado, about a half a cup of almond milk, a tbsp or so of Dutch process cocoa, a tbsp or two of maple syrup, and a dollop of almond butter on top after it’s blended. It’s really more of a healthyfatshake, but I eat it like pudding. I also give it full credit for my hips.

Also recommended: did you try the frozen banana ice cream that was all the craze last summer? Amazing, and infinitely adaptable. More info:

Your recipe sounds yummy. I actually added almond butter to mine too (I forgot to list it).

I somehow missed the frozen banana craze last year. I actually meant to make it with this batch of bananas, but ended up eating the others and then craving an instant gratification smoothie instead.

Mmm those look good. I usually like the berry ones more, but the other ones sounds yummy.
